Abstract: The paper titled "Enduring Archetypes: Keechakan vs. Helpless' Draupati as Male Predators vs. 'Single' Women in Tamil Cinema" focuses on Keechakan and Draupati's characters as it examines the persistent tropes found in Tamil cinema. This study explores how "single" women and male predators are portrayed in film narratives, exploring the cultural and social ramifications of these stereotypes.

This research examines how these archetypal figures reflect and perpetuate gender roles, power relations, and societal standards, drawing on themes from the Indian epic Mahabharata. This research looks at how gender, class, and cultural contexts connect in order to analyze the stereotypes, issues, and changing representations of single women in media. It advances our understanding of the enduring stereotypes around male predatory behavior and the portrayal of single women in Tamil cinema by utilizing an interdisciplinary method that integrates gender studies, cultural analysis, and film studies. By examining these archetypes, we hope to shed light on the larger sociocultural structures that influence and sustain these cinematic stories and encourage critical thought about how the media shapes how people view gender and relationships in modern society.
